At DevX, our Spotlight Stories series goes beyond logos, office spaces, and aesthetics. We explore the people, intent, and culture that shape growing organizations. In this edition, Yash from our marketing team sat down with Prashant, Director at Wipfli India, for an honest discussion on growth, global delivery, culture, and what it takes to build meaningful presence in India.

Over the course of the conversation, one theme was clear: how a US‑headquartered firm has built a deeply integrated global capability from India over the past two decades.

About Wipfli

Wipfli Advisory is a US‑headquartered tax and business consulting firm that works across industries including manufacturing, financial services, construction, real estate, nonprofits, government, healthcare, and technology. With more than 40 offices across the United States, the firm helps organizations manage complexity, navigate risk, and grow with confidence.

Prashant emphasized that Wipfli’s role extends far beyond compliance:

“We work with a variety of clients across industries and help organisations navigate complexity, manage risk and grow with confidence.”

Wipfli brings together tax, advisory, healthcare consulting, technology, and broader business consulting services to help clients make informed decisions and build stronger businesses. At its core, the firm’s mission is to help individuals and organizations reach their full potential while creating positive impact for communities and stakeholders.

The India Story: A Journey of Evolution

Wipfli’s India journey began in 2004 with a technology‑focused arm known as SpiderLogic. Over time, that scope expanded significantly. In 2019, the entity was rebranded as Wipfli India, reflecting its evolution into broader consulting areas including tax, business advisory, and accounting.

As Prashant noted, “India is very deeply integrated into the firm’s global delivery model.”

Today, Wipfli operates from four offices in India and one in the Philippines as part of its global delivery model. The India team provides back-office support services across tax, advisory, healthcare consulting, technology, infrastructure, and shared services.

Prashant’s own journey mirrors this growth. When he began working with the partner group in 2010, the Ahmedabad team was just a handful of professionals. Following a strategic merger in 2021, the Ahmedabad office became part of Wipfli India’s larger operations. Today, the Ahmedabad team is nearly 100 strong, contributing to India’s total strength of about 700 professionals.

Culture as the Foundation of Scale

As organizations grow, preserving cultural clarity becomes more complex. For Wipfli India, culture is intentional; not incidental.

Prashant described Wipfli India as a “second family,” a place where people spend some of the most meaningful hours of their lives. The firm emphasizes accountability and performance while consciously avoiding rigid hierarchies. Collaboration, trust, and respect are actively cultivated.

Five core values guide the firm: integrity, caring, excellence, teamwork, and perseverance. These values are reinforced through consistent leadership communication and inclusive decision‑making.

An important insight from the conversation: culture cannot be an afterthought when global firms scale in India. Alignment between headquarters and India operations requires shared purpose, mutual respect, and equal investment in people and processes.

Workspace as an Enabler of Culture

The conversation naturally turned to the workplace experience; a topic that has evolved significantly post‑COVID.

For Wipfli India, the workspace is more than desks and infrastructure. It’s a deliberate expression of value for associates. Prashant emphasized the role of well‑designed spaces that foster creativity, collaboration, and connection.

“When there are common facilities like gaming rooms, gyms, collaboration spaces or phone booths, it helps associates feel valued and invested in.”

Features like collaboration zones, private booths, recreation areas, and fitness facilities signal long‑term investment in people and culture.

For Wipfli India’s Ahmedabad office, DevX and Wipfli India collaborated closely on design; focusing on associate experience, team interaction, and operational functionality. The result is a workspace that supports high professional standards while also cultivating a vibrant, engaging atmosphere.

Advice for Global Firms Building in India

When asked about advice for firms scaling operations in India, Prashant highlighted:

Evaluate talent and leadership quality in a location, not just cost advantages.

Be deliberate about culture alignment.

Invest equally in people, processes, and workplace experience, not just hiring.

India is no longer a cost‑arbitrage destination; it is a capability powerhouse. Firms that approach it with long‑term vision and partnership mindset are the ones that thrive.

A Shared Commitment to Growth

The Wipfli India – DevX collaboration reflects a shared belief: growth is intentional. It is built through clarity of purpose, strong culture, meaningful leadership, and environments that inspire people to do their best work.

Wipfli India’s journey; from a small technology arm in 2004 to a 700‑strong India operation integrated into global service lines; is a testament to sustained commitment.

We at DevX acknowledge all the support from Wipfli India Admin Team and are proud to support Wipfli India’s Ahmedabad story and look forward to building workspaces that help organizations scale with confidence.
