Senior Social Media Manager

Position Overview

DevX is seeking a Senior Social Media Manager to lead the strategy, execution, and growth of our presence across LinkedIn, Medium, Instagram, and Substack. The successful candidate will serve as an individual contributor with strategic ownership of the social and editorial-distribution function, working closely with leadership, content teams, and external creative partners.

This is a senior role for a candidate who combines editorial instinct, visual sensibility, and analytical rigour. The role will be responsible for translating DevX’s point of view into a multi-channel narrative, building audience depth and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Channel Strategy & Ownership: Define and execute the social media strategy across LinkedIn, Medium, Instagram, and Substack, with a tailored editorial and growth approach for each platform.
  • Narrative Development: Build and sustain content arcs, series, and themes that develop audience interest and reinforce DevX’s thought leadership over time.
  • Audience Intelligence: Maintain a close understanding of audience sentiment, category conversations, and emerging trends to inform editorial planning and identify timely opportunities.
  • Visual Direction: Set the visual standard for social content in partnership with internal designers and external creative partners, ensuring all assets reflect the DevX brand identity.
  • Growth & Distribution: Apply platform-specific growth levers; including content formats, posting cadence, engagement strategy, and collaboration tactics; to expand reach and improve audience quality.
  • Performance Measurement: Own the social media metrics framework. Track and report on reach, engagement rate, follower quality, share-through and save-through rates.
  • Experimentation: Design and run structured experiments across format, hook, timing, and creative direction. Translate findings into actionable recommendations for the broader marketing function.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with content, design, product, and business development teams to ensure social activity is aligned with broader organisational priorities.
  • Reporting: Deliver regular performance reviews to leadership, including monthly dashboards and quarterly strategic reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of social media experience at a content-led brand (publisher, media company, creator business, content-first agency, or comparable editorial-driven organisation).
  • Platform Expertise: Working fluency in the editorial, distribution, and growth mechanics of LinkedIn, Medium, Instagram, and Substack.
  • Visual Sensibility: A strong visual eye, with the ability to brief creative partners clearly and evaluate design quality with precision.
  • Narrative Craft: Proven ability to develop content series, narrative arcs, and editorial themes that engage audiences over time.
  • Audience Insight: An evident track record of reading audience signals and translating them into editorial and creative decisions.
  • Analytical Rigour: Comfort with analytics platforms, performance dashboards, and the discipline to distinguish vanity metrics from meaningful signals.
  • Writing: Clear, sharp, voice-flexible writing with a strong editorial point of view.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in or adjacent to commercial real estate: including office, flexible workspace, coworking, proptech, or institutional CRE.
  • Demonstrated experience growing a newsletter initiative from inception.
  • Experience producing or directing short-form video content.
  • Familiarity with podcast distribution and clip-led audience growth.
  • Experience working with creative agencies and freelance specialists.
